Deborah Mends Art is an idea that started many, many years ago - about fifteen of them to be exact.

I began by founding my first company, Atelier Mends SAS, through which I offered translation and interpreting services specialized in arts and culture.  This activity still exists, and I have had the good fortune to work with some of the top cultural institutions in France and for French ministries concerned with arts projects.

At the same time I was developing as an artist and gaining training in realms as diverse as early painting technique and how to make a drawing pen from a goosefeather (very particular, and there are different schools for how to cut the nib!).

Since my childhood when I used to "play teacher", I have always wanted to be out there helping others learn.  It's what I do.  And the further I got in my artistic studies, the clearer it was to me that there are very many people who think that drawing is a skill for only the talented.  I don't know how many times I have heard "I don't have an artistic bone in my body" or "I'm not at all creative" or "I draw like a little kid".

Drawing and the other artistic skills - for they are skills, not talents - are within the reach of everyone.  Thus came the growing conviction that I wanted my company to be devoted to helping others learn to draw and get in touch with their creativity.

Explore this website, and you will see - drawing is indeed within reach, and will give you vision without bounds!
